Today I worked on assignment eight of the protein bioinformatics project I was able to get information from the website and data provided Gene: PIR Description: Homo sapiens pirin (PIR), transcript variant 1, mRNA. (from RefSeq NM_003662) Ensembl gene ID: ENSG00000087842.6 GENCODE biotype: protein_coding Gene class: coding Highest median expression: 16.80 RPKM in Bladder Total median expression: 281.69 RPKM Score: 407 Genomic position: hg38 chrX:15384799-15493564 The bargraph display has the same width and tissue order for all genes. Mouse hover over a bar will show the tissue and median expression level. The Squish display mode draws a rectangle for each gene, colored to indicate the tissue with highest expression level if it contributes more than 10% to the overall expression (and colored black if no tissue predominates). In Dense mode, the darkness of the grayscale rectangle displayed for the gene reflects the total median expression level across all tissues. Credits Statis...

Kathy serrano   Protein:  UniProt:O 00625 PIR (1x)   Today I worked on assignment six of the protein bioinformatics project I was able to get information from the website and data provided     Pirin   Transcriptional coregulator of NF-kappa-B which facilitates binding of NF-kappa-B proteins to target kappa-B genes in a redox-state-dependent manner. May be required for effici ent terminal myeloid maturation of hematopoietic cells. Has quercetin 2,3-dioxygenase activity Tissue:  Highly expressed in a subset of melanomas. Detected at very low levels in most tissues (at protein level). Expressed in all tissues, with the highest level of expres sion in the heart and liver. there was not much I can fin on the website provided viewed no disease. 1.   Kathy serrano   Protein:  UniProt:O 00625 PIR (1x)   Today I worked on assignment five of the protein bioinformatics project I was able to get information from the website and data provided     Pirin   Pathway   Flavonoid metabolism; quercetin degradation.   Subcellular Location   Nucleus. Cytoplasm. Note=Predominantly localized in dot-like subnuclear structures. Cytoplasmic localization of PIR seems to positively correlate with melanoma progression.   Function   Transcriptional coregulator of NF-kappa-B which facilitates binding of NF-kappa-B proteins to target kappa-B genes in a redox-state-dependent manner. May be required for efficient terminal myeloid maturation of hematopoietic cells. Has quercetin 2,3-dioxygenase activity (in vitro).   GO Cellular Component   cytoplasm; cytosol; nucleoplasm; (1 more)   GO Molecular Function   metal ion binding; quercetin 2,3-dioxygenase activity; transcription coreg...
