The way we view ourselves and our skills can have a significant impact on our life. In addition to the way we feel, the way we view our intellect and talents can have an impact on our performance, whether we cling to new habits, or if we gain new skills. As a person with a growth mindset, you believe in the ability to improve over time. As a result of having a fixed mindset, you may assume that you will never be good at something if you aren't good at it now.The way I have been before covid-19 was always a growth mindset. I always was engaged in learning a new path. I understood my abilities could be developed over time. I wouldn’t cheat or run from difficult problems or situations. I honestly didn’t know what anxiety and being scared to fail were at that time. I would want to say the environment I was in was healthy as well. Till my grandfather passes away, covid- 19 happened and everything went online. That’s when my fixed mindset hit hard. I felt so lost and useless that everything became difficult. Not only school, home, or work but for myself as well. Starting back with school I told myself I wasn’t smart enough that I changed my major I just wanted to run away. Starting work I felt like it was too much for me and I have worked and gone to school at the same time before covid. Making effort and improvements was scary till I filled my mindset to “yet” instead of “failure”. The effort I want to put my growth mindset is school and myself. The way I will do that is I fill my life with just improvements, Strategies, and effort. It is my first year at Arizona State University coming from a community college it felt like my voice was never heard. I want to be able to engage with more of the Arizona State University students. Which joining clubs or even starting study groups for classes is a start. I want to put more effort into using my time wisely when studying and doing an assignment. I feel like having this growth mindset will help me be less stressed with school work as well. This would help me personally have time for myself to be able to go to the gym and improve my confidence. i personally love this topic which put me to introduce my favorite article from https://www.mindsethealth.com/matter/growth-vs-fixed-mindset which talks and illistrates so much more in detail. i introduced below just a percent of my favorite ways they introduce the importance in a growth mindet. Growth mindset or fixed mindset—can the way we think about ourselves and our abilities shape our lives? Absolutely. The way we think about our intellect and talents not only affects the way we feel, it can also affect what we achieve, whether we stick to new habits, or if we will go on to develop new skills. A growth mindset means that you believe your intelligence and talents can be developed over time. A fixed mindset means that you believe intelligence is fixed—so if you’re not good at something, you might believe you’ll never be good at it. At Mindset Health, we’re all about growth mindsets and encouraging people to adopt a positive outlook on learning. So, let’s look at growth vs. fixed mindsets together, explore the science, and see how people can change their mindsets over time. Science once told us that the human brain stops developing in childhood, however, we now know that the brain is constantly evolving and changing. Many parts of the brain respond to experiences and our ‘software’ can be updated through learning. Despite the neurological facts, some people still think that you’re stuck with the talents and ‘smarts’ you’re born with.
